Narek darbinyan
TEACHER OF VIOLIN AND VIOLA
DIRECTS STRING GROUP CLASSES AND ENSEMBLES
Narek Darbinyan began his musical journey at the age of seven when he entered a local music school to study violin.
Following his early studies, he was admitted to the Yerevan State Conservatory, one of Armenia’s leading music institutions, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Violin Performance. His years at the conservatory were marked not only by academic excellence but also by early professional engagements.
During this period, he became a member of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, performing in major concerts and tours, while also beginning to share his knowledge as a violin teacher at a music school. This balance of performance and pedagogy has remained a defining feature of his career.
In 2012, seeking to expand his artistic horizons, he continued his studies at the University of Agder in Norway. His time in Norway offered valuable opportunities to collaborate internationally, most notably through his work with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, where he performed in a wide range of symphonic and operatic repertoire.
From 2016 to 2023, Narek Darbinyan was based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he combined performance, teaching, and administrative leadership. He worked as a Violin Teacher, Academic Advisor, and General Manager of a music school, taking on the responsibility of developing educational programs, guiding young musicians, and managing faculty. His work in the UAE allowed him to shape a vibrant musical community, introducing students to both classical traditions and contemporary approaches to violin playing.
Parallel to his teaching and leadership roles, he has remained an active performer with an impressive international profile. He has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral violinist, collaborating with some of the world’s most renowned musicians, including Maxim Vengerov, Steven Isserlis, Valery Gergiev, Andrea Bocelli, and Denis Matsuev. His artistry has taken him to the stages of some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, among them the Musikverein in Vienna, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Teatro Real in Madrid, Queen Elisabeth Chapel in Brussels, and the Opéra National de Paris.
Today, Narek continues to build on a career that reflects a deep commitment to music as both art and education. Whether on stage or in the classroom, he is driven by the belief that music has the power to inspire, connect, and transform lives. His journey from Armenia to Europe and the Middle East embodies the spirit of a modern musician: rooted in tradition, enriched by global experience, and dedicated to sharing the beauty of music with future generations.
